Mr Duncan Leadbetter BSc MBBS FRCOphth
Mr Leadbetter is an expert Consultant Eye Surgeon specialising cataract, refractive lens surgery and glaucoma. He is a highly skilled cataract & refractive surgeon, offering private surgery with the full range of premium lenses. He also runs a busy private glaucoma practice, providing all aspects of cutting-edge glaucoma care including treatments such as selective laser trabeculoplasty, iStent surgery & trabeculectomy.
He studied Medicine at Imperial College London, intercalating with an additional BSc in Surgery and Anaesthesia. After Foundation Training in London, Mr Leadbetter undertook his Ophthalmic Specialist Training in the South West, with a fellowship in Glaucoma at The Bristol Eye Hospital.
For his NHS practice, Mr Leadbetter is the Lead Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at The Royal United Hospital, Bath. He manages the Eye Department, caring for a population of 500,000. He also runs the glaucoma service, overseeing a large team of doctors and allied healthcare professionals.
Mr Leadbetter has a research interest in glaucoma and cataracts. He has published numerous journal articles and presented at national and international meetings on these topics. He also acts as a reviewer for the European Journal of Ophthalmology.
Outside of Work
During his free time, Mr Leadbetter likes nothing more than to spend time outdoors with this young family. He enjoys trekking, cycling, surfing, skiing and racquet sports.

Having a serious eye disease is frightening and can be life changing and it helps enormously to have the kind and caring support of your surgeon as well as the highly skilled surgery.
